The qualifiers for the MDL Chengdu Major, the first Major of the 2019/2020 Dota Pro Circuit season, took place from October 5 to October 10, 2019. This joint qualifier featured ten teams divided into two groups of five for a best-of-two Round Robin group stage held on October 5 and 6. The top two teams from each group then advanced to a second phase consisting of a Double Elimination bracket on October 7 and 8 to determine which squads would secure their spots at the main event. Open qualifiers for certain regions, such as China, began as early as October 1 and 2 to decide which teams would advance to the closed regional qualifiers. These qualifiers led into the main tournament held from November 16 to November 24, 2019, at the Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center.
