Does Chengdu have bad pollution

Chengdu experiences significant air pollution, particularly during the winter months from October to March, due to its location in the Sichuan Basin where mountains trap smog for extended periods. While air quality has improved significantly since 2016 due to industrial regulations, the city still frequently records Air Quality Index (AQI) levels categorized as Moderate to Poor, often ranging between 75 and 150. During peak pollution events in winter, AQI levels can exceed 150 or even 200, at which point health experts recommend wearing N95 masks and using indoor air purifiers. In contrast, the spring and summer months offer much better conditions with many blue-sky days and lower pollutant concentrations. Despite these seasonal challenges, Chengdu remains one of China's most popular cities, and residents typically manage the pollution by monitoring real-time data and taking necessary precautions during the hazy winter season.
