The 22nd Session of the UNWTO General Assembly was held at the InterContinental Chengdu Century City Convention Center in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. The meeting took place from September 11th through the 16th, 2017. This biennial event is the most significant global gathering of senior tourism officials and high-level representatives from the private sector. During this session, the organization discussed the contribution of tourism to Sustainable Development Goals and celebrated the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. Chengdu was the second Chinese city to host this prestigious assembly, following Beijing in 2003, highlighting its importance as a major hub for international tourism and commerce in Western China.
