Is Chengdu under quarantine

As of May 2026, Chengdu is not under a general city-wide quarantine or lockdown. While the city experienced significant, indefinite lockdowns and strict "zero-COVID" measures in late 2022 that confined millions of residents to their homes, these broad restrictions have long since been lifted. Current travel and entry requirements for Chengdu align with China's national policies, which generally do not require routine COVID-19 vaccinations or quarantines for domestic or international travelers. However, visitors should be aware that Chinese authorities maintain the right to conduct medical screenings, such as health checks or testing for infectious diseases, upon arrival or to enter specific facilities. Travelers are also required to register their place of residence with the local Public Security Bureau within 24 hours of arrival, a process typically handled automatically by hotels. Always check with the official Embassy of the People's Republic of China for the most current visa and health entry requirements before planning your trip.
