The New Century Global Center in Chengdu is recognized as the world's largest building by total floor area, encompassing approximately 1.76 million square meters (roughly 19 million square feet). The massive structure stands 100 meters tall and has a footprint measuring 500 meters long by 400 meters wide, making it large enough to hold 20 Sydney Opera Houses or three Pentagon buildings. Within this colossal complex, approximately 400,000 square meters is dedicated specifically to the shopping mall, which is the largest in southwest China. In addition to hundreds of retail stores, the building houses two five-star hotels with 1,000 rooms each, a university complex, an IMAX cinema, an Olympic-sized ice rink, and the Paradise Island Water Park, which features a 5,000-square-meter artificial beach under a giant LED screen.
