Chengdu this week (July 12 2026 – July 18 2026)

Chengdu flipped from last week’s rainy-derby energy into a proper heatwave. Yellow high-temperature warnings, school holidays still in full swing, and a weekend stacked with arena pop shows — plus a craft-beer takeover in Gaoxin.

Here is a practical roundup for July 12–18, 2026.

Weather and what to wear

This is the hottest stretch of the summer so far. Midweek highs in the city centre have been around 37–38°C, with eastern suburbs briefly pushing past 40°C. Humidity stays high; shade and hydration matter more than the number on the forecast.

Expect:

Carry water, sunscreen, and a compact umbrella. Skip long midday walks; malls, museums, and metro-connected indoor corridors are the survival plan. See also getting around Chengdu when it rains.

Sunday openers: NIKI and Groove Coverage

The week started with two very different club-scale shows on Sunday, July 12:

NIKI — SUMMERTIME 2026

When: Sunday, July 12, 20:00
Where: CH8 Green Tree Performing Arts Center (Chenghua)
Tickets: roughly ¥388–1,688

Indonesian-American pop songwriter NIKI brought her summer tour through Chengdu — a softer, R&B-leaning night compared with the stadium calendar later in the week.

Groove Coverage — 25th anniversary

When: Sunday, July 12, 20:00
Where: Full House (福馆), Dongjiao Memory
Tickets: from about ¥180 · standing show

The German dance duo’s millennial-nostalgia set (think Poison, God Is a Girl) packed Dongjiao’s standing floor as part of a 20-city China run. If you missed it, the same corridor stays useful all week for food and smaller gigs.

Also closing that Sunday: 野性的痕迹, the graffiti invitational at K Space — last day was July 12.

Midweek: electronics expo + indoor cool-downs

14th China (Western) Electronic Information Expo / CITE Chengdu

When: Wednesday–Friday, July 15–17
Where: Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center

A three-day industry show spanning electronics components, AI/IoT, compute, energy storage, low-altitude economy, and intelligent driving. Good air-conditioned wander if you work in tech — or if you simply need a cool hall between thunderstorms. Metro Line 1 / 18 → Century City.

Ongoing art (still worth the trip)

Heatwave strategy: morning museum, afternoon tea house, evening show or beer garden.

Friday–Sunday: beer, then a stadium-and-arena pile-up

7th Chengdu Longmenzhen Craft Beer Festival

When: July 17–19, daily 16:00–22:00
Where: in99 Chengdu — ing巷 east atrium (Tianfu Avenue North, Gaoxin)

Forty-plus craft brands, food stalls, DJs, and games — the local “龙门阵” summer ritual hosted with Nanmen Brewing energy. Ideal Friday night if you are skipping the big arenas, or a pre-show warm-up before Saturday’s concerts. Metro toward Century City / Gaoxin corridors; rideshare pickup gets messy after 21:00.

Saturday, July 18 — two major arena shows

Huang Zitao —「未来纪元 · New Era」

When: Saturday, July 18, 19:00
Where: Dong’an Lake Sports Park Multi-function Gymnasium
Tickets: ¥468–1,368 (official channels reported sell-outs / heavy demand)
Guest: Dylan Wang (王鹤棣) is confirmed as special guest — a big reason the “want to see” counts spiked.

Tour opener energy, high-production pop, and Longquan traffic. Leave extra time from anywhere west of the Second Ring.

Ding Yuxi — XICREATE ft. YOU「此间有你」

When: Saturday–Sunday, July 18–19, 19:00
Where: Phoenix Hill / Wuliangye Cultural and Sports Center comprehensive gymnasium
Tickets: ¥520–1,720 (Maoyan)

Actor-singer Ding Yuxi’s first proper solo concert run — night one falls inside this week; night two spills into Sunday. Metro Line 17 → Fenghuangshan Sports Park.

Note: Chengdu Rongcheng are away at Qingdao West Coast on Saturday afternoon (CSL), so Phoenix Hill’s football bowl is quiet — the crowd pressure is the gymnasium next door, not a derby.

Looking past Saturday: Jolin opens the next stretch

Ticket platforms currently list Jolin Tsai — PLEASURE at Dong’an Lake Stadium on July 19–20 (earlier posters had floated July 17/19 — trust your Damai/Maoyan order). That puts night one just outside this week’s window, but Dong’an Lake will already feel busy Saturday with Huang Zitao in the multi-function hall.

Food, nightlife, and everyday Chengdu

In this heat, locals lean hard on:

Club calendar midweek is quieter than the weekend; check Little Bar, BPM, CH8, and Buwai for leftover tour dates.
