A direct sequel to the movie, Akasha Ganga 2 has been officially announced by Vinayan on his Facebook page on April 22, 2019. The Filming will begin on April 24, 2019. The film will star Sreenath Bhasi, Vishnu Vinay, Vishu Govind, Salim Kumar, Hareesh Kanaran, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Rajamani, Hareesh Peradi, Sunil Sukhada, Idavela Babu, Riyas, Saju Kodiya, Naseer Sankranthy, Ramya Krishnan, Praveena, Thezni Khan, Valsala Menon, Saranya, Kanakalatha, and Niharika.
The director made the official statement alongside an old picture of the crew from the first movie.
Vinayan also confirmed that the musical duo Berny-Ignatius will remix the hit song Puthu Mazhayayi vannu nee for the sequel. Prakash Kutty will craft the shots, and Bijibal will compose the music for the movie.
